  • Well-considered reasons for the choice of the speciality and description of the vision for your career and how will studying in the study programme Design & Engineering support achievement of the goals.

We evaluate the applicant's motivation and critical thinking skills, well-founded connection between the applicant's career choice and the study programme Design and Engineering, as well as understanding of the developments in the field.

Candidates with designers background- portfolio
A portfolio should give an overview of the applicant's professional capabilities and should include the best examples of his/her designs and other creative work. You do not need to include classical paintings and drawings in the portfolio, but you should include development sketches, engineering designs, photos of the models or finished products, developments related to modern technology (e.g. user interfaces, apps, service design projects, etc.). We will evaluate the quality of the designs submitted and the portfolio as a whole.

The positive grading scale is from 5 to 10 points, which can be obtained for a portfolio containing at least 5 different projects in the field.

Candidates with engineering background- online test in field knowledge
Online test takes place in the system called Moodle. The test itself is 7 minutes long and can be taken only once.

European Architecture

Please pay attention as this programme you are applying for, has specific prerequisites:

  • Portfolio
    The Portfolio should give an overview of candidates architectural design skills, competences and experiences on at least 5 different projects or cases. It can include sketches, schemes, 2D, 3D images or photos from products. It should include short description about each work. In case of teamwork or realized projects, it should reveal what was the role of a candidate in this project. In case of study projects the school and tutor should be mentioned.
  • A curriculum vitae with details about the academic and occupational career
  • Interview via Skype- will be conducted only to the candidates who have passed preliminary evaluation
  • Work experience is recommended

Skype interview

Interviews are discussion-based, mainly academic and programme-related:

  • What and where have you studied, how does your academic background fit to the programme of European Architecture you are applying for? (0-2 points)
  • Describe shortly one selected project of your portfolio, and focus on your specific interest, describe the strategy and the result (0-2 points)
  • Which sort of experience did you already gather in international contexts (with students from abroad, international workshops etc.)? (0-2 points)
  • Have you already gathered any relevant practical work experience, within or beyond architecture? (0-2 points)
  • Please describe a specific question or interest about the profession what you would like to work on (0-2 points)

The length of an interview varies between 20-45 minutes and will be conducted by the professors in the programme you have applied for.

The realization of the International Master’s Programme of European Architecture necessitates special material and personnel funds for expenses that are covered by the tuition fees. These tuition fees do NOT cover any expenses for accomodation, travel, excursions or for living costs. You should calculate for accommodation: Tallinn; Ljubjana ca. 150-250€, Berlin/Dessau ca. 300-350€, Haifa, Innsbruck & Lisbon ca. 400-450€ per month, depending on single or double rooms.

The tuition fee is to pay yearly and in advance, and must be paid in full before the following deadline each year: 28.08. EU students and 15.07. for Non-Eu students.
Please note that this is the deadline for receipt of payment, so you should place the money transfer well in advance!

Technology Governance

Please pay attention as this programme you are applying for, has specific prerequisites:

  • Prerequisite for this program is a Bachelor’s degree and a good command of English. Main criteria for admission are motivation and interest, general competence and achievements, and professional background. It is assumed that any potential student will have adequate basic knowledge in economics, history, and technology.

  • There are no formal requirements for any field of graduation, or for specific test scores that tend to measure how well one takes these tests. Because of its specific focus and trans-disciplinary approach, the MA is equally interesting as a first graduate degree right after undergraduate education, as an additional graduate degree after a less trans-disciplinary one, and as an early- or mid-career professional degree for those working in technology government fields, such as ministries, development and promotion authorities, and private companies and NGOs dealing with the subject matter.

Skype interview
(applicants may be requested for Skype interview if more information is needed)

  • applicant has a well-reasoned interest for studying on a Technology Governance (TG) programme, has a clear understanding of the essence of the program and its focus. Candidate can explain, why he/she wants to study on this programme and its relevance for a prospective working career;
  • candidate is able to orient and discuss on different societal topics of high importance, in particular, in relation to recent developments in the economic sphere, field of technology and state governance. She/he can demonstrate of being familiar with a field-related literature that reveals his/her acquaintance with subjects of TG. Candidate is able to bring out potential linkages between previous educational or working experience and the TG programme, and explain how these two could supplement each other;
  • in relation to prospective studies, applicant is able to discuss on his/her potential research field, the one presented in MA thesis proposal. Furthermore, candidate is capable of presenting his/her expectations to studies - skills and knowledge to be pursued - as well as study organizational issues, i.e. to what extent he/she is able to dedicate to studies in order to graduate within a nominal period (2 years) and what would hinder the achievement of this aim;
  • applicant has a good idea of where he/she wants to end up working - mid- to long-term career perspective and specialization, and how TG programme could help in this regard;
  • applicant demonstrates a very good command of English.

Thesis proposal
For each programme you apply to, an individual statement must be inserted.
Please provide following:

  • the indication of a general topic of prospective MA thesis- academic interests, potential research questions and objectives in thesis;
  • methodology – plan on how the research will be conducted, including short presentation of the existing knowledge on the topic (any theoretical or empirical studies that you have come across).
